Our Kittens!!

About two weeks ago, Scott and I headed to the Humane Society of Utah, where we fell in love with two adorable kittens! The moment we sat down and played with them, we realized they were meant to be ours! :) We've been thinking about adopting kittens for a few months now, and the timing was just perfect for them to come home with us! We love them so so much! :)

This is my kitten named Kit Kat... she is a big puff ball!

She likes to hide in the blinds :)
This is Scott's kitten named Carissa. She much more shiny with shorter hair.

She is also very curious...

Here they are sleeping... awww!
Watch Kit Kat play with her toy while Carissa is sun-bathing... such cuties!

A Summer of Sickness

If you are an avid reader of BrookieandScotty.blogspot.com, then you already know that both Scotty and I have been feeling very sick indeed this summer. You know that beyond all the stomach-aches and stress and missed sleep, I have also enjoyed a nice little bout of pneumonia back in June. But ever since then I've been continually getting little 2-day colds (or at least what feel like colds) that go away with a full day's rest. As it turns out, they haven't been colds. Last Thursday evening I got so completely sick that I was up all night... my entire body hurt, my head felt like it might explode, my throat was so completely swollen that I could barely swallow, I was disoriented and shaky and weak... Friday morning I dragged myself to my doctor's office. Sitting alone with a fever of 101 degrees, just waiting for the doctor, I became dizzy and delirious. I was exhausted though I'd just gotten up for the day. Even they couldn't tell what I had, so they had to draw my blood (Not a story for the faint of heart, believe me!) for some lab analysis. The call came today about my results: Mononucleosis.

Mono.
a.k.a. The Kissing Disease.
Cause: Unknown
Effects: Awfulness
Treatment: Rest and Painkillers.
Time: One to two months.

Oh, goody. I get to spend the rest of my summer in bed.

Hi!

Hello everyone! I know, I know... I finally got back to blogging regularly and then suddenly stopped. And why? Who knows... It could be any of the following reasons:

  • I have a stomach ache.
  • I've been working out more which somehow makes me forget to blog.
  • I've been getting to bed earlier and waking up earlier which somehow makes me forget to blog.
  • Or, work has been extremely busy and there's simply not enough hours in the day to do everything I have to do plus blog.
Yes, that is probably it. I sincerely apologize to all of our faithful readers and/or people that are forwarded this blog whether they'd actually seek it out or not.

As for Scott and me... we are doing very well! We had Scott's very best friend Nick and his wife Tabitha over for dinner and Pinochle on Friday night, and I must say that I had an absolute blast! Scott cooked steak and potatoes, and we had fruit salad and yummy banana splits with Spumoni ice cream and cherries on top! Seriously, such a good meal! I got to talk with Tabitha a lot, which was really nice since I don't really hang out with my girl friends too much any more. They are all busy with their own stuff, and one of my best friends, Michelle, has been gone for a month on her mission. I really feel like Tab and I can become really good friends, as long as they don't move up to Oregon or out of state any time soon. It's really great hanging out with them, since they are nice people who are a lot of fun, and we definitely share a lot of the same values! We are heading over to their place tomorrow night too (Scott and Nick want to play their Star Wars games or something...), so that will be fun. I just simply love having a good time with new friends. Yay!

A Birthday Post

This is Scott, and it's my birthday!! Today has been the absolute most best day ever thanks to my lovely wife Brooke, who is pretty and smart and perfect. And crazy. Hey, it's sad, but true. Today's events have included the following:
  • Golfing with my Dad, while Brooke drove the golf cart around like a maniac. She's a maniac! A Maniac!!! She actually tried to run over some geese.
  • Shopping at Targets and Best Buys, but not JC Pennies. Even though Kelley was working there, some things are more important... than Kelley.
  • Playing two games of Mario Party with Brooke, in which I totally kicked her butt.
  • Lunch at the Olive Garden, where they sang to me and over-garlic-ed my food. It was pretty good... NOT.
  • Going to the movies to see The Incredible Hulk, which was amazing. Except for all the parts with Liv Tyler. DULL. I'm excited for the sequel which includes Iron Man... YEYEha!!
  • Now I am at my Dad's house with family (Taylor and Adalynn and Riley... and some girl I think is named Kellie... kelly... Keltic... Kelley something... and Brooke the Crazy Geese Murdering Person, etc.), and we are going to dinner... Who knows where? I do, but it's a secret...

Stay tuned! All in all, it's been an amazing Birthday. Perhaps awkward. We'll see.

Happy Birthday, Scottie!!

Dear Darling,

Happy 22nd Birthday!! I love you with all my heart! Thank you for being so wonderful! I hope your birthday (and every day) is filled with wonderful moments that you remember for eternity.

Love always,
Brookie

A New Job!!

Here is the official announcement: Scott got a new job with eBay that starts on Monday, June 30th 2008! Yay for my husband Scottie!!
Here are all the great parts of the job:
  • It's close. The location is in Draper, just about 5 minutes away from both our parents' houses. It's close off the freeway, just like our apartment is, so as long as there isn't some kind of accident, the commute will be quick.
  • Also, it is close to both of my places of work... about 5 minutes from TBE and about 1 minute from Best Buy! We could totally meet for lunch!
  • eBay is a solid company that is expanding even in this struggling marketplace. It is good to know you are employed in a steady company that isn't going to lay you off!
  • The pay and benefits are great! We still have to find out exactly what the benefits are and their cost, but come on- it's eBay! They've got to have an amazing benefits package!
  • It sounds like they have some really cool employee benefits-- not to mention the semi-annual bonuses which would be really great!
  • There is a lot of room for growth and advancement within eBay, as well as many locations across the US should we ever decide to skip town :)
All in all, we are both very excited for this opportunity, and we know it will be really great for Scott's career. He is such a good worker with so much potential, and I am very happy that someone has finally decided to give him this chance to prove himself as a worker and an individual. I am very thankful to Heavenly Father too... it hasn't been easy sometimes to continue with faith that we would get through these hard times, but it has finally come. I have sure learned a lot about myself, and I know what I have to work on. I am so thankful for my husband, who pretty much never lost faith that this opportunity would come. He has been so kind and forgiving, and he is the best man I know.

I am so proud of you, Scottie. I love you.

This week...

For some reason or another (ie. a severe case of pneumonia), things this week have definitely been more crazy than usual. Here's what happened to me over the past week:
  • Whitney and Dave visited last Wednesday night for an evening of fun and games. We played games and had fun! Whitney ended up staying the night... this is where the problems begin.
  • Whitney had had a slight cold over the past week, but I didn't think it was a big deal having her over. Wrong. Thursday night, I got sick. I didn't get better over the entire weekend, and by the time I visited my doctor on Monday, it had developed into pneumonia.
  • My dad's birthday was on Sunday, June 8th and because I was so sick and unable to move off the couch, we had to cancel. Now we have plans for this Saturday.
  • Kelley's birthday was on Tuesday, June 10th, and I completely forgot. In the craziness of everything, I completely spaced it and didn't even give her a call. I feel awful! However, her birthday card which I'll give her on Sunday, is truly amazing!
  • Work at TBE and Best Buy has been crazy busy! I barely have time to blog or do anything leisurely! At work! Come on!!!! :)
  • Scott and I are anxiously awaiting to hear from one of two jobs... we are praying for an offer, and hoping for the best! Please please please!!!
  • I finally beat Super Mario Brothers on my Nintendo DS! What a feeling of accomplishment!
  • Scott has been doing all the cooking this week since I've been sick, and now we are out of everything! The house is a mess, my car is filthy, I need to go grocery shopping, we both need to work out, I need to finish the iPod for Kalli like I promised... what a busy weekend this will be!
  • Oh yeah, and Father's Day is on Sunday. See what I mean? Busy busy busy!!!!
  • But the good news is, I'm finally feeling better!!! Yay!!

I Love to See the Temple

I love the temple. Most of all, I love the Mount Timpanogos, Utah Temple because that is where Scott and I were married for all eternity, but I love all temples. They stand as houses of our Lord Jesus Christ, who by his sacrifice has made eternity of any kind possible. Temples are so beautiful. But what's more, they are made even more beautiful by the amazing ceremonies performed therein. On Saturday, May 31st, Scott and I were able to attend the wedding of our two good friends: Nick and Tabitha. They were sealed in the Jordan River, Utah Temple, and it was so emotional! As we were there for that sacred ceremony, I thought back to a couple months ago when we were in that same position. The feelings overwhelmed me several times throughout the day, and I'll admit I cried a few times out of joy for them, as well as the complete happiness and love that I felt toward my husband Scott. I know he felt overwhelmed but happy as well. The day was amazing, and the spirit dwelt there all day. I hope a lot of Nick's family that aren't members of the LDS church felt the spirit of the Lord and were touched by the love between Nick and Tabitha. It was just such an amazing day.

Along the same lines, there are two new temples being built here in the Salt Lake Valley: the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in Bluffdale (I think) and the Draper Temple in Draper (obviously). They are both on hills on either side of the valley as you are driving south toward the point of the mountain, and it is just so cool to be able to look all around you and see temples from every direction. You can just see the Draper Temple from Scott's parents' backyard right through the trees. It is so beautiful! Seeing all these temples also overwhelms me sometimes, and especially when I'm driving with Scott I just want to burst into song with the Primary Children's song "I Love to See the Temple." Paul Cardall does a wonderful version of this song on the piano which was included on our wedding CD if you were lucky enough to get one! :) I can't wait until they are finished! I wonder if one of them will become my new favorite! But like I said, all temples, no matter their shape, size, location, or decoration, are houses of our Lord once they are dedicated through the power of the Priesthood. They are all so gorgeous-- all 126 of them! Wow!

What a Weekend!

I'm not feeling very creative right now, so I think I'll just quickly fill you in on the highlights of this weekend:

1. Scott, Kelley (Scott's younger sister), Ron, Brenda (the lady that Ron has been dating), and I all drove down to St. George, UT for the weekend.

2. We stayed at Brenda's father's summer home which was super nice and brand new. The furnishings and decorations were super fancy, and the home was very clean. This had one major downside: we spent three hours of our last day there cleaning the home. Scott and I even mopped the floor of the garage! The Garage!!!!

3. The weather on Saturday wasn't very nice, so we ended up not being able to go boating or do anything cool. We all went to the indoor pool, took a nice long nap, had dinner, and then went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. The movie was great, but it was a long drive to St. George just to swim and see a movie.

3.5. I really wanted to go to the Saint George temple, but we didn't bring our recommends! I think we really missed out, but it sounds like we might go again sometime this summer (Ron looked for a condo to buy for himself while we were down there), and in that case I'll definitely remember my stuff.
4. The car rides to and from St. George were both enjoyable and nightmarish. Kelley wanted to argue with Scott the entire way about everything, from who got to drive, to what music to listen to, to how loud the music should be, to where we stopped to eat... I just mostly stayed out of it, but it was pretty bad. The good part was that I was able to take some motion sickness pills before each of the trips, so I could play games, read, nap, etc. without feeling car sick at all! It was pretty great. :)

5. Kelley and I stayed up late on Saturday night while Scott and his dad went grocery shopping. We came up with some fun new inside-jokes that are great. Kelley is a fun girl, and so smart... I hope she figures everything out with her school and finds a good balance between that and personal life so that she can graduate on time with all her friends. I hope she and Scott and also she and her dad can learn to get along better... it sounds like they are all having a rough time.

6. Getting away for the weekend just took a lot of stress off. We were able to literally get "away from it all." Seriously, I didn't think about work or bills or anything while we were gone, and it surprised me at how relaxed I felt. Even though we didn't really do much, it was the change of scenery that was the best for all of us.

This Weekend's Adventure: Laundry

It was that time again: Time to do the laundry. Not because I really really really wanted to (like I sometimes actually get), but because I was officially out of clothes. The pile on Scott and my bedroom floor actually became like a second carpet, and walking on our clothes and towels and socks each day sure wasn't getting them clean, I'm sure. Anyway, we took the opportunity this weekend to get out of our sweltering apartment (the air conditioner doesn't work, and it was like 90 degrees all weekend!) and go stay at Scott's parent's house for an adventure in Laundry Land! It took pretty much all day Saturday (from 2:00 pm until 12:30 am the next morning), but we did it! Our clothes are clean, we can see the carpet in our bedroom, and Scott can now get into his side of the closet! It's a win-win-win situation! Also, I'm wearing a super-cute outfit today, made possible by these adventures. So if you feel like you're running low on adorable things to wear or outfits to make you look super-cute, don't go shopping!! Do your laundry!

Brooke is nuts!

Well I read through all of Brooke's crazy blogging and writing and I decided to leave a little bit more useful information than just random thoughts that pop into my ditzy wife's head (HA HA). Anyways, Brooke and I are very happily married and have been for 2 months now. We have our ups and downs and I have to say that right now is a bit of a down. I was working for Fidelity Investments prior to our marriage, but due to cutbacks in the economy worldwide, I found myself without a position. So for the past month I have been job hunting with all of the disappointments and craziness therein. And I have little to display for my efforts. Well, I will continue trying and maintain our household and hope for a better tomorrow. I will also come back here soon to post a short history of Brooke and me for those who don't have all the information. I will touch on some more memorable moments such as the stapled head, the backyard antics, my shack, and other such tender moments.

Thanks again, and see you soon!

Mother's Day & Many Phone Calls

Our missionary, Hermana Kalli Dawn Jenson, was finally able to call home and talk to us all yesterday on Mother's Day! It was so great hearing from her and telling her all about our life since Scott and I got married. I've been so bad at writing to her, but I'm really going to try to do better, especially now that it's summer and I have no homework!! I've even set it up so that she gets each of these posts as I publish them! How neat is that?

Anyway, we received a phone call from her in the morning (which made us late for church, but it was definitely worth it), and then a couple later that night because she had another opportunity to talk to my mom some more. She tried calling the house but nobody was answering, so she called me on my cell phone! I saved the number in my phone as "Hermana Jenson" but I won't call unless there's an emergency. I'm pretty tired and pooped, and I have a lot of work that's piling up on my desk so I'd better get going. This post was pretty pointless, so here's a happy thought:

Many Friends

Yesterday was so great! Scott and I had a blast entertaining so many guests including family and friends! Okay, so it wasn't some great big hurrah, but we had a lot of fun. First of all, Kendra came to visit on Wednesday night and stayed until Thursday evening. I don't know if she had a lot of fun, but a change of scenery is always nice. My cousin Morganne also ventured over on Thursday morning with a loaf of Texas Toast for some absolutely amazing French Toast! Scott made a really delicious fruit salad made with strawberries and oranges and lots of sugar-free whipped cream! All in all, it was the best breakfast I've had in a very long time!

After Morganne had to leave, Scott, Kendra, and I watched the movie "P.S. I Love You," which did not quite live up to expectations. It wasn't what I thought it'd be, and my emotions were very conflicted between getting sucked into the sorrow of it all, feeling giddy and uplifted by all the tragically romantic moments, or getting angry at all the stupid people treating Holly like crap about mourning for her dead husband. Scott just kept saying how he thinks Harry Connick Jr.'s hair looks stupid. I'm sorry, but I definitely have to agree. What a strange character...

Anyway, later that evening, my "Office Party" began. We had two guests: Michelle and Jessica. This week's episode of "The Office" was very funny, however it definitely wasn't my favorite. There was a great part at the end where just Dwight and Angela were in the office together, and I'm really hoping we might get to see some "Dwangela" coming back into play pretty soon! Once Angela has had her baby, there are definitely possibilities that she'll get a lot more screen time. Well, back to my party... so after "The Office" we all played some games like Skip-Bo and Uno, and we gorged ourselves on a healthy and delicious snack: caramel corn mini rice cakes! Yum yum yum! We had such a blast!!!

Two Months... Almost!

It's nearly been two months since Scott & I were sealed for eternity in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple... what a blessing! Since then it's been such a roller-coaster! For anyone that wants to know, being married is fun... it's hard, but not any harder than being engaged was! (What a rough patch that was!) Things in our home are coming together nicely, and I think I'm going to spend some time this evening trying to put up the pictures around our house. I still need to get our wedding photos developed, but every time I try to take them to the store, those silly readers say there aren't any pictures on the disc! It's getting frustrating, but I'm sure I'll find some way to get them all developed! :)

As you can surely tell, I'm obsessed with my wedding pictures! I'll post three of my favorites below.

Which do you like best? Let me know!
